Manhattan

There’s a beauty in the simplicity of a Manhattan cocktail, invented in New York in the late 1800s.

This blend of American whiskey and Italian vermouth, with a couple dashes of Angostura bitters and garnished with a brandied cherry is what a cocktail should be. If you’re only gonna have one cocktail all night (shuddering at the thought) it would be this one.

MANHATTAN

2 ounces bourbon

1 ounce sweet vermouth

2 dashes of Angostura bitters

brandied cherry for garnish

In a mixing glass, add bourbon, sweet vermouth and bitters. Fill glass with ice and with a stir stick, mix contents for 20 seconds. Strain into a coupe glass. Drop a brandied cherry to the bottom of the glass as a garnish.
