It’s been nearly two months since I last blogged. I can peg it back pretty much to when I started my new day job. So I thought I would give you an update on where I am today.

To say it’s been an incredibly busy two months is an understatement. I literally started the new role in a part of the company I never had exposure to, so there was a lot of ramping up to do - and quick. This is what they mean by throwing you in the deep end. So far, I’m swimming - although in real life I’d sink as I don’t technically know how to swim. But the metaphor works for me at least in the working world. And yes, I know. Learning how to swim is on my bucket list.

Remember when I decided to give up New York Fashion Week this Fall because I was starting this new job? Let me tell you it was probably the smartest thing I’ve done lately, despite the moments of FOMO weakness. There would simply not have been any time at all to see shows let alone go hang out with friends, go to blogger meetings and the numerous photo shoots I wanted to do. That week in particular was insanely busy to prep for my boss’ meetings all around the world. When you have a boss who travels as often as she does - and even if you don’t have travel with her all the time - your time schedule often shifts to accommodate her.

Such is corporate life for busy executives, but I really can’t complain. The job is challenging, fast-paced and high profile - three qualities that I thrive on. In other words, I know what I signed up for and I’m getting exactly that.

If there’s one wish, it would be for me to know how to set better boundaries - whether it’s delaying a response to an email or to remain committed to a boxing class that I’ve scheduled instead of staying late to write email.

The emails will always be there. But to be fully present is much more important.

Considering it’s Canadian Thanksgiving Monday, I just finished taking a bath before sitting down to right this. I think I’m on the right path. I think.

Ask me again in two months.
