Vancouverites who worship the little French cookie known as the macaron can rejoice as Ladurée opens its first Canadian location on Vancouver's Robson Street this Thursday. A special maple syrup macaron will even be offered for this occasion!

Best known for their colourful and delectible macarons, Ladurée is an institution for French patisserie, dating back to 1862 when Louis Ernest Ladurée from southern France opened his first bakery in Paris.

Similar to the current Paris Ladurée boutiques, the décor for the Vancouver store will be similarly painted in soft Easter colors punctuated by marble-topped gold counters. The tea salon, featuring beautiful panels depicting the four seasons and Carrera marble-topped cream wooden tables, will provide comfortable seating with Lyre back chairs in rose and almond green hues and small floral benches. The salon will offer a daily selection of culinary treats from Ladurée’s top chefs while shoppers can take home beautifully boxed macarons, viennoiseries, teas, jams and home décor items including candles and home fragrances.

The lines will surely be long, but be sure to keep an eye out for a special opening treat of a limited edition Yuko Higuchi macaron gift box that was designed for Easter and will be available only until Monday, March 28th.
