Even though Valentine's Day can seem like an overcommercialized event - which it is - it's also a reminder that in this era of being 'on' all the time you often lose sight of one another. Valentine's Day is really a forcing function to stop what you're doing and appreciate those who love you. Sure, it's easy to say it should be Valentine's every day. But is it? And travel can also get in the way. For instance, I'm leaving to LA tomorrow for the week - which means Keith and I won't be together during Valentine's. As a result, we're celebrating Valentine's Day early by doing a staycation at our favourite hotel, the Fairmont Pacific Rim (not sponsored) and gifting ourselves time together. And of course, it's an opportunity to take some photos in our gorgeous Signature Room, which is a very special corner room at the Pac Rim. All the room numbers end in '10' so there's only one per floor. Keith and I have stayed in every '10' room since it opened back in 2010. If you ever get a chance to visit the Pac Rim, make sure you snag yourself one of these rooms. They come with a stunning corner view of the five sails at Canada Place and you get a front row seat to watch seaplanes take off and land in Burrard Inlet.

Speaking of Keith, you'll notice that he's not in any of my photos because he's incredibly camera shy. He'd much rather be behind the camera than in front of it. So no, I'm not spending Valentine's alone but very much together with my man!
