As you know, I love fashion - but even more so when you can mix and match what you already have in your closet. It’s not always necessary to go out and buy a completely new outfit every time there’s an event - it’s just as fun to shop in your own home!

When I do get the urge to pick up something fresh, however, I prefer heading to my nearest thrift store. It’s amazing what gold you can dig up if you’re willing to spend the time, particularly when it comes to coats. I love a good overcoat or statement jacket and you’ll often find the most unique, off-the-wall patterns and textures in a thrift or even consignment store.

On a recent trip to my local thrift store, I picked up this Aquascutum trench for $25. ‘Aquascutum,’ which literally means ‘watershield’ in Latin, is a very established British luxury clothing and accessories label, based in London, England. The trench was just hanging lonely off the rack and I was lucky enough to nab it in time for a quick jaunt into Gastown. As you can see, the trench is so versatile and for this shoot I’m wearing it over my favourite Zadig & Voltaire sweater and comfortable pleather Asos skinnies and black Nikes. In other words, my weekend uniform. Adding the trench just makes me feel taller and lends a bit of elegance to weekend athleisure.
