It’s nearly 2018 - so it’s time to engage in some real talk.

The fact that there’s still a debate about topics that science has proven with empirical evidence - over and over - is mind boggling to me. I can’t even have a proper debate with individuals who still believe climate change is a hoax. Or those who question the Theory of Evolution, despite being supported by so many observations and confirming experiments that scientists are confident it will not be overturned by new evidence. We are not talking about blind faith here.

How about the question of Love? Are we honestly going to take the word of a 2,000 year old book over what is human and just and right? We might as well condone slavery while we’re at it, since it’s allowed according to the Bible. I was raised Catholic but I have learned that love is love. No matter gender, race, religious beliefs… why do we need to put rules around the most important quality about being human?

I know that there will be many people who disagree with me and that’s okay. That’s what makes us diverse - and while it’s exhausting to engage in debates with those who have a fundamental difference in beliefs than I do, I’d rather make a simple statement through clothing.

Redfish Kids have created an adult t-shirt that loudly speaks to my beliefs and kudos to them for stating what I’ve often wanted to yell at the top of my lungs - especially lately at the TV. Again, not everyone may agree with their sentiments but I do. I want to help build a world that is not about being ‘tolerant' to those different than them. Tolerant is not good enough. How about teaching our kids about being empathetic, embracing and enthusiastic about celebrating differences versus building walls. I want my kids to grow up in a world much better than the one I grew up in - and maybe just wearing a t-shirt like this helps me speak my mind and stand for something, without uttering a word. After all, Redfish’s motto is Clothing for the Courageous.
