I just wanted to capture some stills from my time on Bowen Island this week. Such a quick getaway from Vancouver - only 20 minutes by ferry - it’s no wonder that property prices on Bowen are beginning to soar. Great schools, some pretty decent restaurants (including sushi!) and plenty of spectacular ocean vistas, many are considering to call the island home - or at least a second home.

My favorite restaurant on Bowen Island. This French bistro is run by the most lovely young family. They're duck confit is to die for and they have great wines by the glass. Try a glass of the Nichol Pinot Gris (blush pink in color) with the duck or even the steamed clams. Both dishes were fantastic.

Clams in white wine and butter at Rustique. Pretty basic French bistro fare - done to perfection and paired with a glass of Nichol Pinot Gris. Lovely minerality that goes well with shellfish.

Seriously, where would you find this anywhere else? An after-hours flower stand where you leave $20 in an envelope and take any arrangement you like. Only on Bowen.

Bowen Island only has one gas station. THE gas station. Its pumps are so old - err... "vintage" - that it took me a few seconds to figure out how to use it!

With a colorful party history, you can imagine there must be a vintage shop in town. Why, there certainly is!
