It's Raining but It's a Dry January
How is that possible, you say?
Well it's possible when one goes 'dry' or gives up alcohol for the month. If you can recall, I did this experiment last January and it went surprisingly well. My body went into shock for the first week of course - I literally had the 'shakes' - but once that was over, I had so much more energy. Little did I realize that alcohol makes you so lethargic, not to mention soft and doughy all over. I felt happier and healthier than ever.
This time around, I'm noticing it's not as difficult as last year. I'm drinking a lot of tea, water, coffee, milk, etc. - discovering a whole other world out there without wine or spirits. The only challenging thing is when I'm eating a meal (especially eating out) - I often pair my food with wine - it's just one of those things that go together perfectly. It's not the same when you're pairing rack of lamb with, err... Pellegrino.
The benefits definitely outweigh the drawbacks, though. After one month, I'll be more trim, more energetic and a bit more well off as dinner out is a LOT cheaper without paying for wine!
